A few days ago, a famous actor committed suicide. He was diagnosed with depression, a mental illness, and many began searching for information about the disease. One of the main causes of depression is thought to be insufficient sleep.

It may not seem true to read, but happiness or sorrow, to be strong or weak in body, to have or not to have proper knowledge, to be strong in body or to be thin, etc. It all depends on the amount of sleep you get.

Adequate sleep is essential for the proper functioning of the body and mind. The body and the mind need rest in order to function various organs in the body smoothly. Sleep is an important part of giving energy to work anew.

According to modern scientific research, hormones work in the body in a circadian rhythm. The brain wakes up in the morning with the production of proper cortisol and adrenergic chemicals. As it is implemented throughout the day, we work all day long. It starts to decrease after sunset. The effect of night darkness increases the level of melatonin and makes a person fall asleep.

Every person spends 1/3 of his life in sleep. This ‘Time’ consuming sleep is so important? During Physical and mental activities, there is cellular level damage and work of repairing this damage is done during night sleep. Every cell in the body regenerates during this period. 

The pituitary gland secretes about 50% of the growth hormone needed for growth during sleep.  During this time, the body works to flush out toxins produced during the metabolism of food.Currently obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. are found in many people. But according to a research, it has been found that getting enough sleep at the right time helps to reduce all these disorders.

Research also suggest that people who sleep less than 6 hours are more likely to have diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, mental disorders, infertility and other disorders. Without proper sleep, the body secretes a chemical called excessive cortisol, which weakens the human immune system and invites various diseases.

We feel like the brain is resting during sleep. In fact, it was during this time that sorting of all the work done during the day, what was seen, what was read takes place.

The Glymphatic system in the brain is functioning at this time. This leads to the excretion of a waste substance called beta amyloid. If you don’t get enough sleep, this substance is stored in the brain and the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease is higher in the future. Getting proper sleep is essential for staying awake, boosting memory, boosting immunity.

Due to insufficient sleep the hormone ghrelin, which produces the sensation of hunger, is increased and the hormone leptin, which produces the sensation of fullness, is reduced. The result of both these things is that man eats too much and this results in obesity.

Inadequate sleep is one of the main causes of hyperacidity. If you do not get enough restful sleep at night, the next day you will experience heartburn, headache, constipation, heavy stomach, indigestion etc. Inadequate sleep increases the risk of hyperacidity. That is why it is important to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night for a healthy life.
